The Vermillion Cliffs National Monument is a popular hiking destination between Kanab, Utah and Page, Arizona. The area is famous for its swirled bands of color that run through the sandstone and unique formations.
Trails in the Vermillion Cliffs area require a permit from the BLM, dogs are allowed but require a permit. Permits can be obtain from the Paria Contact Station from mid-March to mid-November, when closed you can obtain a permit at the Kanab BLM Field Office. The most popular hiking destinations are Buckskin Gulch, Coyote Buttes, Paria Canyon, Wire Pass and The Wave. Buckskin Gulch is also a popular Canyoneering destination. It is highly recommended to use a quality topo map. |
